Commemorating Nelson Mandela Day with Purpose at King’s Hope Development Foundation

On this Nelson Mandela Day, PURCO SA had the distinct privilege of engaging in a meaningful and celebratory event at the King’s Hope Development Foundation in Olievenhoutbosch.

Organized with great care by the PURCO SA Social Committee, the day was filled with a variety of enriching activities, including pottery, beading, painting, and more. These creative and interactive sessions were designed to bring joy and inspiration to the children and community members.

The day commenced with a warm welcome from our CEO, Selvan Govender, who delivered a heartfelt address on the importance of community service and the impact we can make in the lives of others. His message emphasized that true living involves not only enjoying life but also contributing positively to our communities.

We were honored to present gifts to the dedicated volunteers who tirelessly support the foundation, as well as distribute stationery and sweet treats to the children. Additionally, we were pleased to fulfill several items from the foundation’s wish list, including art supplies, a new microwave, and an electric urn, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Bidvest Waltons, Twinsaver, and Sizwe Paints.

Among the highlights of the day, we completed significant improvements at the shelter, including a much-needed renovation of the bathroom facilities, the enhancement of the playground area, and the provision of new bedding for the shelter’s bedrooms.

We are immensely proud of the positive outcomes achieved through this collaborative effort and deeply grateful to all who contributed to making this day a success.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this initiative, helping us honor Nelson Mandela’s legacy through acts of kindness and community service.
